ESL Sheltered Instruction Level 2 (online)

Teachers will continue to learn English language teaching techniques and strategies that will enhance curriculum and student learning in any environment. Techniques and strategies will help to support English Language Learners and will be based on the How to Differentiate Instruction in Academically Diverse Classrooms 3rd Edition by Carol Ann Tomlinson. This course is the second course offering and should be taken after the ESL Sheltered Instruction 1 (Online) course. ESL Sheltered Instruction 1 focused on the 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners. ESL Sheltered Instruction 2 will focus on specific strategies that can be incorporated into the classroom to enhance student learning. This course was developed to meet the Sheltered Instruction requirement. Teachers must complete both ESL Sheltered Instruction 1 and ESL Sheltered Instruction 2 in order to receive the Sheltered Instruction Qualification via Option 2, Completion of two (2) three-credit PDE3 courses or may use one of these courses (ESL 1 or ESL 2) to count towards the (1) three (3) credit PDE3 course for Option 7 Combination of Options 1 and 2. Disclaimer: Teachers must complete both ESL Sheltered Instruction 1 and ESL Sheltered Instruction 2 in order to meet the Sheltered Instruction Requirement unless meeting the requirement via other options as listed in the Sheltered Instruction memo. This online course will begin on March 16, 2022. Participants will receive instructions from the instructors on how to access course content prior to the start date of the course. The deadline to pay for this course is March 14, 2022.
