Numbers Make Sense (HYBRID)

Numbers Make Sense uses two approaches to facilitate math learning. There is a heavy emphasis on using the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract teaching theory for increased mathematical understanding. With C-P-A comes the use of real-life and online math manipulatives as well as exploring number relationships and patterns.

This section will have two online synchronous days from 8am-4pm on August 6th and 7th. The third day is online asynchronous (on your time). Once you make payment and HSTA registers you on PDE3, check your DOE @k12.hi.us email for communication from the instructor.

Dates: August 6, 2022 through January 3, 2023 (Portfolio due November 15, 2022)

This section is completely online and begins on August 6, 2022. The deadline to pay for this course is noon August 3, 2022. Participants will be emailed instructions to access their online course. If you have any questions regarding the course, please reach out to the instructor directly.
Once the course has been completed and all portfolios have been accepted by the HIDOE, the instructor will submit the required information for the reimbursement of the course deposit for all participants. There is no need to do anything to process this but to complete the course. It can take up to a month from the course end date for participants to receive the reimbursement.
