Conquering Math Phobias
The purpose of this course is to help participants address math phobias by encouraging teaching methods that apply deep conceptual mathematical thinking and understanding in real-world applicable contexts. Research shows that math anxieties and phobias exist and are caused by certain variables such as parents’ and teachers’ attitudes towards math, societal stereotypes as in a race, gender, or traits. This course will highlight activities to address these variables in a more positive way so that we can support all students in knowing they are ALL math people.
