NATIONAL BOARD CANDIDATE SUPPORT PACKAGE

Please read all the information before you register for this course. After registration, you will need to fill out an additional form.

The candidate support package is only for HSTA members and KS teachers.

Effective August 2025, candidates can sign up for a support package to help them navigate the National Board process.  The package cost is $150 and includes one Jump Start session and up to five years of candidate support sessions.

*If you have paid for Jump Start any time after 2020 but before August 2025, please email hstanbct@hsta.org, and we will verify your previous payment and help you register.

Definitions:

Jump Start is a non-credit workshop introducing teachers to the National Board certification process. Teachers will learn about the Five Core Teaching Propositions, the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching, and the Teacher Standards that form the foundation of National Board certification. Participants will explore the component requirements, plan their personal National Board journeys, and collaborate with other candidates.  We strongly recommend that you take Jump Start before starting the components.  These 4-day sessions are scheduled during the summer.  We have a virtual option and a face-to-face option. If we have enough interest at the beginning of the school year, we will schedule another virtual one in August or September; however, this is not guaranteed.

Candidate Support Sessions are the cohort meetings to support the component work a National Board candidate is working on for the year.  Participants can sign up for one, two, or as many as they need for the year.  They are designed to be focused sessions to use while working on the component.  The fee provides candidates with up to 5 years of support.

Details and Cost:

The package is a one-time fee of $150 (This fee is not part of the HSTA PD reimbursement program).

The package includes one Jump Start virtual or face-to-face session and up to five years of candidate support.  Jump Start is not required, but it is strongly recommended that candidates attend before starting or paying for any of their National Board work.  If a candidate chooses not to attend Jump Start, no discount will be given, and the candidate’s support sessions will not extend beyond the five-year option.

 We cannot add you to the course without your registration information; please watch for it in your email. Refunds will not be issued because the participant did not follow this step.
