Course Description:
The “Keeping it Real with PBL” course centers on Project-Based Learning (PBL) and its practical application in education, aiming to give educators the skills to design engaging and effective learning experiences. Key concepts include elements of quality PBL, collaborative classroom culture, student inquiry, formative assessment, design thinking, and 21st-century skills. The course promotes equity, improves teaching practices, meets professional standards, and emphasizes real-world application. Participants will learn to design culturally responsive projects, strengthen curriculum, assessment, and instruction, and use data to inform instructional decisions. The course supports the development of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity and aligns with Hawaii Teacher Performance Standards (InTASC). Ultimately, the course is designed to be interactive and transformative, leading to lasting changes in teaching practices. |
