This course explores climate science-related phenomena such as the albedo effect and greenhouse gases, with lessons that teach learners about climate change in local and global contexts. Place-based climate science resources are provided to help make climate change and climate science concepts more relevant to Hawaiʻi-based learners, encouraging stewardship and real-world solutions that can be unique to each community.
This course uses middle school grade-level lessons to teach foundations in climate science. Participants will use and/or adapt these lessons to fit their grade level standards. All grade-level educators are welcome and encouraged to participate if interested in learning more about climate science and adapting to climate-related lessons in a Hawaiʻi-based classroom setting
