Support Maui educators affected by wildfires

Mahalo for your interest in helping Maui educators in the aftermath of the wildfires. The Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association is no longer accepting donations. Please consider donating to individual teachers’ crowdsourcing campaigns by clicking here.

Please also consider a donation to the Aloha United Way Maui Fire Relief Fund or the Public Schools Of Hawaiʻi Foundation. Mahalo again for your generosity.

The Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association is collecting donations for its Maui fire relief effort. On Aug. 8, 2023, devastating wildfires tore through West Maui, forcing nearly 60 educators to temporarily relocate after flames destroyed or damaged their homes.

The fires also displaced hundreds of educators and students from their schools. King Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina was completely destroyed, and three additional Lahaina-area schools were closed through the end of fall break for damage assessment, repairs, and cleanup.

Your contribution will help HSTA support schools and educators impacted in the form of:

  • At least $1,000 to educators and retirees whose homes were destroyed or are uninhabitable.
  • At least $1,500 to King Kamehameha III Elementary educators who lost both their home and classroom.
  • $500 to educators who worked at King Kamehameha III Elementary and lost their classroom or work site.
  • Support including, but not limited to, financing staff flights and travel expenses to provide additional support to Maui educators, attorney fees, meals and supplies to educators.

Thank you for your support and generosity for our Maui educator ʻohana.

Please note, HSTA is not a 501(c)(3) and any donation is NOT tax deductible.

By submitting your information, you are authorizing a one-time donation to HSTA.
